Conversations with Blood Donors

An animation series developed for the NHLBI’s blood donation awareness campaign

An evocative storytelling platform where blood donation experts share their personal journeys and invite the public to take part in this life-giving act. Conceptually, we approached the series through a mixed-media lens, combining collage, photography, hand-drawn illustration, and vector elements to create a richly layered visual language. The aesthetic draws inspiration from collage techniques and the emotional intimacy of personal scrapbooks, using type and texture to highlight the raw sincerity of each donor’s experience. A recurring motif throughout the series is the butterfly symbolizing transformation and hope, quietly fluttering through each episode as a visual thread that unifies the stories and reinforces the enduring impact a single donation can have.
